I am a well-organized teacher, researcher, and curriculum designer with extensive experience of using both English and Swedish in my work. Since obtaining my MA in Historical Research from Lancaster University I have mainly pursued a career in teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and literature at high schools and universities. Since then, I have gained a CELTA certificate, as well as more than 9 years of full-time teaching experience at universities, high schools, and training centres in China and Vietnam. In the future I wish to continue developing as an EAP teacher and curriculum developer.

Around China : SwedKiwi1 commented on news China Denies Entry to Mentally Ill Foreigner for the First Time

Seems a bit of a contradiction that. He was observed for over a month but denied entry into China. Also, if he had a mental illness, why didn't they just send him back to Malaysia to receive the far better healthcare that one would expect there. Full Comment>>

Around China : SwedKiwi1 commented on news Sichuan Woman Throws Huge Fit when Bus Driver Refuses Her Dog

This story doesn't make much sense. First of all something seems to have gone wrong with the cause and effect in the story. The woman's dog was not allowed because "no pets were allowed" but "There was a new rule implemented in Nanchong by the city bus operating chief because of the woman's antics: no dogs or other ... Still not worth much even after the increase. 66,000/12 =5500 - for everything from tuition to accommodation and international travel. Not a huge sum exactly. Full Comment>>

Around China : SwedKiwi1 commented on news Christmas Banned in Schools amid Anti-Christmas Protests across China

Unfortunately not the first and definitely not the last time that the Chinese have been cancelling festivals and cracking-down on both religions and ideologies in the people's (nationalist) socialist republic. To this can of course be added that they are cracking down on Christmas without promoting traditional ... Full Comment>>

Articles : SwedKiwi1 commented on news Only Child No More: The Relaxing of China’s One Child Policy

This won't have much of an impact in Guangdong anyway. Here I haven't met many people who are only children - in spite of the rule it seems most families are having 2, 3 or more children (already). Full Comment>>

Articles : SwedKiwi1 commented on news Deciphering “APEC Blue”: Man-Made Effort or Sent from the Skies?

"vehicles account for 31.1 percent of local pollution, coal emissions account for 18.1 percent and industrial production accounts for 14.3 percent of PM 2.5. The other 14.1 of emissions". The above numbers don't seem to add up. Maybe someone got it wrong because 31.1 + 18.1 + 14.3 + 14.1 = 77.6. So around 1/4 of the ... Full Comment>>
